Sensei: Kenji Yamada - 8th Dan
Yamada Sensei began studying Judo when he was 13 years old, and he has been
teaching at Seattle Dojo for over 50 years. He was an active
competitor for Seattle Dojo until the late 1960's and won many competitions
for the club, including the national championship. Among his many
accomplishments, he received the "Best Technique Award" for his uchimata in
the All-US Championships in California in 1963. Since his retirement
from competition, Yamada Sensei has been dedicated to teaching Judo at
Seattle Dojo, and he continues to share his vast knowledge and experience
with his students to this day.
